Best Practices for Effective Meetings
At Dorian Studio, we are intentional with our meeting practices. An effective meeting brings a thoughtfully selected group of people together for a specific purpose, it provides a forum for open discussion, and delivers tangible results. We believe the below represents best practices for holding and executing effective meetings.
Agenda: The meeting leader should create a clear agenda for the meeting. Participants should review the agenda ahead of time and come to the meeting prepared
Avoid being late: Waiting for people who are habitually late is unfair to those who show up on time
Participation: It’s important to bring all voices into the meeting conversation
Avoid Multitasking: Silent your phone and stay focused on the meeting agenda
Start on time and End in time to assign action items: Stay on task and leave time at the end of the meeting to assign actions and owners.
Meeting Minutes: the assigned scribe will take notes that can then be distributed to all attendees. Follow up assignments are to be included in the meeting minutes.
Be supportive in the meeting outcome: It’s encouraged to respectively voice your opinion during meetings. However, there may be times that you may not fully agree with the final decision, but it’s imperative that when you leave the meeting, you’re supportive of the decision made.
